Cleanse now…

It is well into spring, and I still have not gotten into the spring cleaning thing– I mean spring cleaning my body, of course. Something is holding me back. A few extra pounds, a bit too much sugar over the past couple months….a sore back that keeps me from exercising the way I want…

Are you feeling sluggish and out of kilter, too? Have you put on some weight over the winter? Do you feel lacking in energy and motivation? Join the crowd!

it IS time to clean up. Oh, don’t get me wrong: I have made plenty of changes over the last few warmer weeks. I bought myself a new stainless steel water bottle so I drink more water daily. I also drink at least 2 cups of green tea a day. I’ve cut out almost all flour in my diet, except for the pancakes I make Sandy every weekend– bot those are jammed packed with flax, wheatgerm, fruit and coconut oil, so who cares?? The only breads and cereals I eat are made from sprouted grains. We have daily green smoothies made with kale or spinach, frozen blueberries and whey protein and Emerald Balance. So all is not lost!

But I have been eating some sugar, and it does beckon me on a regular basis, and then I have to beat it off with a big proverbial stick. I also have been eating more animal products than I want– only fresh eggs and some fish, but still I eat them more days than not. I aim to keep the eggs to twice a week and fish twice a week, and replace the rest with beans and nuts. (I do love nuts!)

I think I feel better already–I’ve cleansed my mind and set my intentions in print for all the world to see. Okay, maybe not all the world but at least you, my readers. I will not eat the macaroons, I will have a sliced up, beautiful apple, which I will eat mindfully and slowly. Tomorrow will be a fresh start to a cleaner me. Ready, world, here I come!!

SO how about it? Are you ready to make the shift to a healthier spring diet? The markets will be opening soon, bursting with fresh produce, but why not start today with a big green salad? And a piece of fruit or two?  You can do it. So can I. Enjoy the spring.
